It's The First of March and It's Autumn Now

It's nice to live in a place where the beginning of the month means a change in the season. Today, the first of March marks the end of summer and embarks the beginning of autumn. March also sets a new beginning for our family - a beginning of a better health for all of us.

Today was Leon's specialist follow-up at The Children's Hospital at Westmead with Dr. Dominic Fitzgerald. Three months after his lung procedure - pleural drain and VATS, Leon was examined to see his current health condition. Fortunately, all his results turned out well. His iron levels are up and his lungs are really sounding well. Though looking a bit thin, he actually gained back all the weight he lost from the surgery. We are all hoping that he, along with us will be in better health, moving forward.

While we receive the good news regarding Leon's health, I am here at home nursing a cough and a cold for three days now. The GP advised me a couple days ago that I caught a viral infection which only needed water and rest. Did you know that I even went to work last Wednesday, a day after my sickie only to be sent home back home to rest? I was shocked at how different the working culture here was. Back in the Philipines, a simple flu won't stop me from coming to work. On this side of the world, when you're unwell, no matter how much you intend to stay, your manager would send you home if you risk infecting other people.

Anyway, since I didn't have much photos to share about how our day went today, let me just share with you some photos we had last Chinese New Year at the City. We went to Haymarket to shop, ate dimsum in Chinatown and witnessed the dragon dance in Darling Quarter. There was also a Greek festival in Darling that we went to and ate some souvlakis. I honestly wanted to write about it then but things got a little busy and I did not have the time (and the energy to).

Hope I feel better soon. I was feeling fine this morning but started feeling worse after we brought Leon to the hospital. Could have caught a number of bugs when we were there. I hope I'm strong enough to go to work tomorrow. Sa totoo lang, nahihiya ako magsick leave.
