Visiting Bondi, Manly and Coogee - Which Is The Best Sydney Beach For Some Family Bonding?
I've always admired the beach. The white sands, the salty air, the clear blue waters - the beach have this enigmatic feel that can instantly wash your worries away. Back in the Philippines, I make sure that I visit at least one beach every summer - either to bond with my family or relax with my friends. I did not expect that beautiful beaches are so accessible here in Sydney. So close that we only need to drive for an hour to get there. (Deep inside, I wish we could afford to live near the beach).
So far, we have visited 3 of Sydney's most famous beaches - Bondi, Manly and Coogee. They are so accessible that we can either drive the car going there, ride the train or ferry or take the bus. No need to spend for expensive plane tickets, go for a long drive or book hotel rooms just to enjoy the sea breeze. Since we really love having some fun family bonding time, we love searching for new beaches to explore. So among the three we have visited, which one tops our list?
To give you an idea, here's a quick review of the three of them.
Get That Upbeat Vibe at Bondi
Bondi is indeed the most popular beach here in Sydney. It has an upbeat, fun vibe complemented by its white sand, blue waters and beautiful people. Did I say, people? Oh yes. Bondi is always packed with tons of locals and tourists, either bonding with family or friends, playing water sports or just basking in the sun. Everywhere, you'd see beautiful ladies in their suits and guys flaunting their abs.
If you're looking for that party, groovy feel, Bondi is the best beach for you (think of: Boracay). It is perfect for friends want to hangout and have fun. For us? Well, it is a good tourist spot but I have to say that the beach is too crowded and busy for a family who wants to relax and enjoy the beach. We'll probably go back when Leon's big enough to enjoy the beach and try some water sports.
Let Your Kids Enjoy In Manly
Hitting the beach with your kids? Manly is the perfect beach to go. Second to the most popular beach in Sydney, Manly has that chill, laid-back, family friendly beach feel. It is so perfect for families that there are 3 playground areas the kids could enjoy! There's one near the wharf, and a couple at the beach front. Apart from the multiple food options you can dine in, you can chill, relax, enjoy the sea breeze while watching your kids have fun.
The only downside is, parking is expensive - we've spent around 20dollars for 3 hours the and food is a bit pricey too. Well we could just commute, ride the ferry, bring food and have a picnic next time!
Lie Low and Relax at Coogee Beach
Since we're always on the hunt for new places to visit in New South Wales (apart from Malls), the husband chanced upon Coogee Beach on the Internet. Despite its proximity to Bondi, Coogee is less popular to its sister Beach. Vibe is more relaxed like Manly, despite the lack of playgrounds nearby. it has an open bath that you can swim into if you don't prefer the beach. Parking is free (wow!), restaurant prices are relatively cheaper making it a nice place for a family weekend get together. We managed to met new friends there too.
All in all, Sydney is filled with beaches that you, your family or your friends can visit to! We are still on the hunt for more beaches here and I'm so excited to share them to you. Hope you enjoyed this post!
Til next time
xx, The Mommy Roves
